Here are three spooky, kid-friendly treats that won’t break the bank. Grab your kids for one of these easy and fun recipes just in time for Halloween!
Dairy products like cheese contain calcium that helps build bones and teeth. [1] Dairy products can also have potassium, which helps maintain a healthy blood pressure. It is especially important that children and adolescents get enough calcium to build bone mass for adulthood.
Tangerines are another source of potassium. [2] One medium tangerine also contains almost all of the vitamin C recommended for children 4-8 years old, and over half of the vitamin C needs of those aged 9-13. [3] Feel free to get creative and use other orange fruits for the “pumpkin”, such as oranges or clementines.
Apples have—guess what—potassium! [4] Apples also contain healthful compounds that can reduce the risk for certain diseases. [5] Your kids will love getting to drizzle two delicious toppings on fresh apple slices!
